Smoke resistant doors

Smoke development resulting from a fire is a bigger threat than the flames themselves. The disorientation caused by the smoke increases the time it takes to evacuate the building. The smoke resistance of a doorframe element is linked to the acquired fire resistance result.

In our neighbouring countries, fire resistance and smoke resistance are tested seperately, a decision supported by REINÆRDT Deuren bv. We think the seperate testing is a better approach when determining smoke resistance.

As a doormanufacturer we have decided to test a number of doors seperately on fire resistance and smoke resistance according to the new European norm EN1634-3.
